What goes into the general waste bins?
The general waste bins at The Store House should be used for household waste that can't be placed in the mixed dry recycling bins.
As a general rule, if an item can't be recycled through the building's recycling service, it should go into general waste.
What can go into general waste?
General waste can include everyday household items that aren't suitable for recycling, such as:
- Non-recyclable packaging
- Used tissues and paper towels
- Food-contaminated packaging that can't be recycled
- Other household waste that isn't accepted through the mixed recycling service
Please make sure that recyclable materials are separated and placed in the mixed dry recycling bins instead.
What shouldn't go into general waste?
Some items should never be placed in the general waste bins, including:
- Batteries
- Vape devices
- Electronic devices
- Other battery-powered or hazardous items
If you have one of these items, bring it to reception so the team can advise you on the correct disposal option.
What if I'm unsure?
If you're not sure which bin an item belongs in, check the signage in the refuse area or speak to the Resident Team before disposing of it.
Helpful tip
When in doubt, don't put an item in the wrong bin. Ask the Resident Team and they'll help you work out the correct way to dispose of it.
