What are the rules for using bin stores responsibly?
The bin store is a shared facility, so we ask all residents to use it responsibly and help keep the area clean, tidy and accessible for everyone.
Following a few simple rules makes a big difference.
How should I use the bin store?
Residents should:
- Use the correct bins for each type of waste.
- Separate recycling from general waste and place items in the appropriate bins.
- Flatten larger cardboard boxes before putting them into the recycling bins.
- Bag general waste appropriately before disposal.
- Keep the bin store tidy and make sure waste is placed inside the correct bins.
- Never leave rubbish on the floor, beside the bins or in other communal areas.
What about items that can't go in the standard bins?
Some items, including batteries, vape devices, electronics, furniture and bulky waste, require alternative disposal arrangements.
Don't leave these items in or beside the bin store. Speak to the Resident Team for guidance on the appropriate disposal option.
Why is responsible bin store use important?
The bin store is shared by everyone at The Store House. Keeping it clean and using the correct bins helps prevent overflowing waste, unpleasant smells and safety issues, while making the area more pleasant for everyone.
Helpful tip
If a bin looks full or you're unsure where something should go, don't leave it on the floor. Speak to the Resident Team so they can advise you.
