Can I hold doors open for others?

For security reasons, residents should not hold secure doors open for people they don't know or allow unauthorised individuals to enter The Store House.

Why can't I hold the door open?

Your key card provides access to the building and the areas you're authorised to use. Allowing someone else to enter without using the appropriate access or visitor process could compromise the security of the building and other residents.

If someone is visiting a resident, they should follow the building's visitor process and sign in at reception.

What if someone asks me to let them in?

If you don't know the person, don't let them into the building using your access. Politely direct them to reception, where the appropriate visitor arrangements can be made.

This applies even if someone says they're visiting another resident or has forgotten their own key card.

Helpful tip

If you're ever unsure whether someone should be entering the building, it's safer to direct them to reception rather than letting them through a secure entrance.

Are there any security checks I need to follow when entering or leaving?

There aren't any complicated security checks for residents when entering or leaving The Store House. We simply ask everyone to follow a few straightforward security measures to help keep the building safe and secure.

What should I do?

Residents should:

  • Use their own key card when entering the building and accessing authorised areas.
  • Make sure doors close securely behind them and don't allow unauthorised people to follow them into secure areas.
  • Sign guests in at reception and accompany them during their visit.
  • Report any security concerns or issues with access doors to the Resident Team.
  • Contact the on-site Security Team if assistance is needed outside Resident Team hours.

These simple steps help protect residents, staff and the building while making sure everyone can enjoy a safe and secure place to live.

Helpful tip

If something doesn't look or feel right, report it to the team rather than trying to deal with a security issue yourself.
