How do I meet other residents?

Moving into a new home can be a great opportunity to meet new people, and The Store House has a range of shared spaces, resident events and facilities where you can naturally meet other residents.

Whether you're looking to make friends, find people to study with or simply have someone to grab a coffee with, there are plenty of opportunities to connect with the people around you.

Where can I meet other residents?

You can meet people in a variety of spaces around The Store House, including:

  • Social lounges – relaxed spaces to spend time with other residents.
  • Study areas – a useful place to work alongside other students.
  • The gym – an easy place to see other residents while keeping active.
  • Shared spaces – areas throughout the building where residents can relax and socialise.
  • Resident events – regular activities and events provide opportunities to meet people and try something new.

What if I'm nervous about meeting people?

It's completely normal to feel a little unsure when moving somewhere new, particularly if you're coming to Leeds from another city or country.

You don't need to arrive knowing everyone. Start by saying hello to the people you see around the building, joining an event that interests you or spending some time in the shared spaces.

The Resident Team can also help you find out what's happening at The Store House and introduce you to opportunities to get involved.

Helpful tip

Don't feel you have to make lots of friends straight away. Even something as simple as joining a resident event or chatting to someone in a shared space can be a great first step.
