What happens if there is a fire alarm?

The Store House operates a stay put policy, designed to keep residents safe. It's important that you understand the correct procedure for your apartment and the wider building.

What should I do if I hear the fire alarm?

If you hear the fire alarm within your apartment, you should evacuate immediately using the nearest safe exit.

If a fire occurs elsewhere in the building, The Store House operates a "stay put" policy unless you are instructed to leave by the Fire Brigade or other emergency services.

What does "stay put" mean?

If the fire is not within your apartment, you should normally remain inside your apartment and keep your door closed, unless a member of the site team or emergency services instruct you to evacuate.

If you see smoke or fire in your apartment, or your apartment is affected by smoke or fire, evacuate immediately using the nearest safe exit.

What happens when I move in?

Full fire safety guidance is provided during your stay, including information about the building's fire procedures and what to do in an emergency.

Please make sure you familiarise yourself with the evacuation routes and fire safety information when you move in.

Important: Never ignore a fire alarm. Follow the building's fire safety instructions and any directions given by the Fire Brigade or emergency services.
