Can I move out before the end of my tenancy?

You can physically move out of The Store House before your tenancy end date, but if you have a fixed-term tenancy, you're generally committed to the full contract period.

Moving out early doesn't automatically end your tenancy or your responsibility to pay rent. You may still be responsible for rent until the tenancy agreement ends, unless another arrangement applies under the terms of your agreement.

What if I need to leave early?

If your circumstances change and you need to move out before the end of your tenancy, speak to the Resident Team as soon as possible.

They can explain the options available to you and confirm whether any notice requirements, payments or other arrangements may apply in your circumstances.

Should I check my tenancy agreement?

Yes. Your tenancy agreement is the most important document to check if you're considering moving out early. It sets out the terms of your tenancy and your responsibilities during the fixed term.

Don't assume that handing back your key card or moving your belongings out means your tenancy has ended.

Helpful tip

If you're thinking about leaving early, contact the Resident Team before making arrangements to move out. They'll be able to explain your options and help you understand what your tenancy agreement means for you.
