Am I responsible for cleaning my home during the tenancy?
Yes — as the resident, you’re responsible for keeping your Enclave home clean and in good condition throughout your tenancy. Regular cleaning not only makes your space more comfortable but also helps prevent damage, pests, or excess wear that could affect your deposit.
Your responsibilities
-
Day-to-day cleaning: Vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces.
-
Kitchen care: Cleaning ovens, hobs, microwaves, and extractor fans regularly to avoid grease build-up.
-
Bathroom care: Keeping tiles, grout, and fittings free from mould and limescale.
-
Appliances: Emptying dishwasher filters, wiping down fridge seals, and cleaning washing machine drawers.
-
Rubbish disposal: Using bins and recycling facilities correctly to maintain hygiene.
-
Pet Care: Any additional cleaning—such as fur, bedding or blankets—to keep the apartment clean and comfortable (Enclave: KX and Birmingham only).
Why it matters
-
Deposit protection: At the end of your tenancy, the condition of your home is compared against the inventory. A well-kept apartment reduces the risk of deductions.
-
Health and comfort: Regular cleaning prevents pests, damp, and unpleasant odours.
-
Respect for the property: Keeping the home in good order is part of your tenancy agreement.
Helpful tip
Little and often is best. Tackling small cleaning jobs regularly will save you from big tasks later — especially before inspections or when preparing to move out. Additional cleaning services may also be available, speak to your on-site team for details.
