What cleaning standards are expected before inspections?
Before an Enclave inspection, you’re expected to keep your home clean, tidy, and in good order. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s simply to show that you’re maintaining the property responsibly and in line with your tenancy agreement.
Key areas to focus on
-
General cleanliness: Vacuum or sweep floors, wipe down surfaces, and keep rooms free from excessive clutter.
-
Kitchen: Clean hobs, ovens, sinks, and worktops. Remove food waste and wash dishes to prevent pests.
-
Bathroom: Keep tiles, fittings, and grout free from mould and limescale. Ensure toilets and sinks are hygienic.
-
Appliances: Wipe down fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine interiors to avoid odours or build-up.
-
Rubbish disposal: Empty bins and use recycling facilities properly.
What’s not required
-
Deep-cleaning or professional cleaning is not normally expected for routine inspections (though it may be required at the end of your tenancy).
-
Minor wear and tear is acceptable and won’t count against you.
Helpful tip
Think of inspections as a snapshot of how you’re looking after the home. Regular light cleaning will keep everything in good condition so there’s little to do before each visit.
