Am I allowed to paint or decorate?

In most cases, Enclave apartments must be kept in their original finish, so you’ll need permission before painting walls or making decorative changes.

Painting and decorating

  • Standard rule: Repainting walls, applying wallpaper, or making permanent decorative changes isn’t usually allowed without written approval.

  • If approved: You’ll likely need to return the property to its original colour and condition before moving out.

  • Minor changes: Adding décor that doesn’t damage walls or fixtures — such as removable wall decals, adhesive hooks, or soft furnishings — is generally fine.

Why restrictions exist

  • Consistency: Apartments are maintained to a high, uniform standard.

  • Future lettings: Homes need to be in move-in ready condition for the next resident.

  • Deposit protection: Unapproved changes could lead to deductions at the end of your tenancy.

Helpful tip

If you’d like to personalise your space beyond temporary décor, refer to the resident handbook for details or speak to the team first. They’ll confirm what’s possible and what conditions apply.
