How should I sort my recycling?

At Enclave, recycling is sorted using the bins provided in your building’s bin store. Clear signage helps you separate items correctly, but here are the general guidelines:

Mixed recycling

  • Place clean paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, and metals together if your building uses mixed recycling bins.

  • Rinse containers before recycling to avoid contamination.

Food waste (if available)

  • Use the dedicated food waste caddy or bin, lined with compostable bags if required.

  • Do not mix food waste with general rubbish or dry recycling.

General waste

  • Anything that cannot be recycled (like plastic bags, polystyrene, or nappies) should go into the general waste bins.

Special items

  • Batteries, electronics, and hazardous items must never go in recycling bins — these require special disposal (see your building guidance).

Helpful tip

Always follow the signs in your bin store, as rules can differ depending on your local council. Putting the wrong items in the wrong bin can mean the entire collection is rejected.
