How should I sort my recycling?
At Enclave, recycling is sorted using the bins provided in your building’s bin store. Clear signage helps you separate items correctly, but here are the general guidelines:
Mixed recycling
-
Place clean paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, and metals together if your building uses mixed recycling bins.
-
Rinse containers before recycling to avoid contamination.
Food waste (if available)
-
Use the dedicated food waste caddy or bin, lined with compostable bags if required.
-
Do not mix food waste with general rubbish or dry recycling.
General waste
-
Anything that cannot be recycled (like plastic bags, polystyrene, or nappies) should go into the general waste bins.
Special items
-
Batteries, electronics, and hazardous items must never go in recycling bins — these require special disposal (see your building guidance).
Helpful tip
Always follow the signs in your bin store, as rules can differ depending on your local council.
