What day-to-day maintenance am I responsible for?

As an Enclave resident, you’re expected to take care of basic day-to-day maintenance in your apartment. These small tasks keep your home in good condition and help prevent bigger issues from developing.

Your responsibilities

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean floors, surfaces, kitchens, and bathrooms.

  • Ventilation: Open windows and use extractor fans to reduce condensation and prevent mould.

  • Appliance care: Empty dishwasher and tumble dryer filters, clean washing machine drawers, and defrost the fridge-freezer if needed.

  • Light bulbs and batteries: Replace light bulbs and batteries in smoke alarms (if battery-operated).

  • Bins and waste: Empty household bins regularly and use recycling facilities properly.

  • Minor fixes: Tightening loose screws, replacing shower hoses, or dealing with small upkeep issues.

Why it matters

  • Keeps your apartment comfortable and hygienic.

  • Protects your deposit by preventing damage from neglect.

  • Ensures repairs are only needed when truly necessary.

Helpful tip

If you’re unsure whether something is your responsibility or the landlord’s, use a simple rule: if it’s routine upkeep, it’s yours. If it’s structural, safety-related, or provided equipment failing, it’s Enclave’s responsibility.
