What repairs am I responsible for as a tenant?
As a resident at Enclave, you’re expected to look after your home on a day-to-day basis. While the landlord handles major repairs, you’re responsible for minor upkeep and preventing avoidable damage.
Tenant responsibilities
-
Basic maintenance: Replacing light bulbs, keeping drains clear of hair/food, and resetting fuses if the trip switch goes off.
-
Cleaning: Keeping the apartment clean, including appliances, floors, and surfaces.
-
Ventilation: Opening windows or using extractor fans to prevent condensation and mould.
-
Pest prevention: Disposing of rubbish properly and maintaining hygiene to avoid infestations.
-
Minor repairs: Tightening screws, replacing batteries in smoke alarms (if battery-operated), or fixing small household items.
-
Reporting issues: Notifying the on-site team promptly if a bigger repair is needed — leaving problems unreported could make you liable for further damage.
Helpful tip
Think of your responsibility as everyday upkeep. If it’s a structural, safety, or system repair, it’s the landlord’s duty. If it’s day-to-day care or something caused by misuse, it’s yours.
