Will I be charged a late fee?
Yes — if your Enclave rent payment is late, you may be charged interest, but only within the limits set by UK tenancy law.
How late fees work
-
Grace period: If your rent is just a day or two late due to banking delays, this may not trigger a fee, but you should always inform the team.
-
14 days overdue: Once rent is more than 14 days late, interest may be applied.
-
Rate: Interest is capped at 3% above the Bank of England base rate, calculated daily on the overdue amount.
Why late fees exist
-
To encourage timely payments and cover the landlord’s costs of chasing arrears.
-
They are a standard, legally permitted charge in the UK, not a penalty.
Helpful tip
If you know you may struggle to pay on time, contact the Enclave team as soon as possible. They may be able to agree a short-term plan, which could help you avoid fees and protect your tenancy record.
